Episcopal Academy's athletic program allows students to compete at their highest-level in 29 varsity sports. Integration of the existing campuses in Merion and Devon to the new campus in Newtown Square, called for building a state-of-the-art Athletic Center. The 115,000 SF center includes a six-lane 25-meter swimming pool; a competition gym for basketball and volleyball; a three-court fieldhouse that will host a variety of sports; a ten-court squash complex; a dual-meet wrestling room; a rowing tank; weight and fitness rooms where students can enjoy the latest training techniques; and staff offices.

Acentech consulted on architectural acoustics and mechanical system noise and vibration control. We worked closely with the architects to control the build up of noise, while preserving an acoustical environment that is conducive to the excitement generated during ‘at-home' competitions/games. We discussed several options with the architect to design a space for the natatorium that worked well acoustically and remained consistent with the ‘signature' of the architects.
