The new school is a replacement of an existing middle school. The concept is to provide houses or schools-within-the-school to allow for particular grade areas as well as spaces where all grades can interact. Designed with maximum flexibility to allow the building to adapt to continually changing education paradigms.

Site design was critically important. The site is also occupied by the City Aquatics Center and the Boys & Girls Club. The parking demands for these facilities can be huge vehicle site circulation and parking were integrated to benefit all facilities. Linus Pauling Middle School is Silver LEED Certified.


Materials:
TPO single-ply roofing (cool roof) by Firestone. Masonry by Mutual Materials. Storefront with Oldcastle Low-E glazing. Assa Abloy doors and hardware. Low VOC paint and coatings by ICI.
