Gem of a Gym

St. Thomas More Parish wanted to incorporate a new dedicated gymnasium as the centerpiece of their education building expansion. A dramatic oversized south-facing window wall combines a band of view windows and exterior eyebrow shades with light-diffusing insulated translucent panels. This extensive amount of south wall daylighting conceals the fact that the adjacent three walls have no direct access to exterior light. In addition to this window feature, this designer element includes many other amenities: 1) a high quality maple floor for serious play and durability. 2) Open white-washed high ceilings; 3) Clean walls at play level with rugged acoustical paneling above; 4) Adjoining storage rooms, locker rooms and kitchenette; 5) Dedicated afterhours access; and 6) second story supervision window. All in all, the new gym is an extremely appealing designer element that clearly illustrates the Parish's investment in the youth of their community.
