This design strategy decreases the amount of artificial lighting required to illuminate interior spaces, decreasing the heat load and energy costs caused by electrical lights. The significant daylighting at the school has reduced energy usage to 44% below that of conventional buildings. Additional Info: The school is organized in building bars along an east-west axis for optimum natural lighting and ventilation, and the material palette follows principles of environmental sensitivity, simplicity and efficiency.
