Offices,

Connecting students with nature and creating a playful outdoor atmosphere inside is the inspiration for this school. The outdoors is mimicked with a blue ceiling, suspended clouds, a colorful patchwork floor and green triangular hills on the walls. Sunlight streaming in the clerestory windows and tree bulletin boards enhance the “nature walk.” Miniature houses above the classroom pods identify them by color. The vivid colors and shapes help students to learn where to go and feel at home.

Additional Info:

Large tree-shaped cork bulletin boards add to the appeal of the “nature walk” and provide spaces to display students’ colorful artwork in harmony with the rest of the design. Each of the classroom pods has a different color scheme purple/gold red/orange and blue/green. The colors and shapes are visually stimulating and allow students to quickly learn where to go in the building. This conscious effort to bring the building down to scale for the young students enables them to feel more at home as they adjust to the new experience of attending school.
