Other Elements by this Professional

Carlstadt Public School was designed to replace 3 smaller, 100 year old schools throughout the District. The District´s and DMR Architects´ goal was to leap-frog from their outdated 19th & 20th century buildings into the 21st Century with high performance building technology. The result was the first public school in the State of New Jersey to be Silver LEED certified.

Additional Info:

The administrators and faculty were so enthusiastic about the sustainability features of the design that they asked if DMR Architects could help them convey this to the students of the school. Given this challenge, DMR created a Power Point presentation to be taught to grades 3 through 8 as part of their science class. DMR taught each of the classes about global warming, what they and their families could do about it and how the new Carlstadt Public School was designed to reduce its affect on global warming. This effort generated additional enthusiasm for the new school, and showed the students just how special their new school was going to be.
