Building orientation is to maximize site benefits, day-lighting and help in vehicular circulation. School has clusters of instructional "quiet" spaces seperate from "noisy" spaces. Clusters are separated using courtyards which provide outdoor classroom opportunities and serve as gathering spaces. Additional Info: School design incorporates various sustainable elements in an effort to provide a high performance school without necessarily incurring high construction costs. The intent of this project is to provide a school that is certifiable for a silver rating in accordance with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED for Schools (LEED-S) rating system. Materials: Integrally colored CMU Block, metal stud framing with 3-coat stucco system, light gauge metal stud framing with gypsum board at interior walls, thermoplastic roof membrane over rigid insulation, aluminum storefront window system with insulated glazing, hollow metal frame and door system.
