Daylighting and Transparency-Element 1

A very important element in the design of Hillside Middle School was to achieve ample daylight and maximize the transparency. The views of Salt Lake City and the mountains are spectacular from this school. The building occupants enjoy these views and daylight wherever they are in the school, including the gym. As one student put it, "The school feels more outside than in".
