Design and planning for Central Los Angeles Learning Center #1, Heritage K-12, incorporates many sustainable design elements. HK-12 complies with the Collaborative for High Performance School (CHPS) rating system, the “Savings By Design” program administered by California utility companies and has been designed for eligibility with State Allocation Board’s Energy Allowance Grant Program: the mechanical (HVAC) and electrical systems are designed to perform 20% above the State’s minimum Title 24 Energy performance criteria.

Additional Info:

Thermal displacement ventilation (TDV) : Heating and air conditioning is supplied at floor level of each classroom and interior space; supply air is delivered at 65 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 55 degrees required for a standard “overhead” supply systems. Heritage K-12 is the first extensive TDV campus in the State of California. Central plant serving the entire K-12 campus: central plant cooling system will consist of three electric-driven, water cooled centrifugal chillers, using an environmentally acceptable refrigerant. The 1,220-ton load will be served by two chillers at 500-tons and one at 220-tons. The 220-ton chiller will solely operate at low load conditions.
