River Crest Elementary School

Completed in 2008, River Crest was the first elementary school in Wisconsin, and the just the second public elementary school in the nation, to receive Gold under the LEED for Schools Rating System. Nearly 93,500 square feet with a capacity for 588 kindergarten through fifth grade students, the facility's total project cost was $57/square foot less than, or 29% below, the average cost for public elementary schools built in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in 2008 according to School Planning & Management's "2009 Construction Report".
