Cedar Ridge High School![]() KAHickman Architects and Interior DesignersThe new Media Center for Cedar Ridge High School is approximately 5,100 square feet including an additional 4,900 square feet of support spaces consisting of a state of the art multimedia lab, computer lab, two small group rooms, office space, a large conference room, supporting toilet rooms and audio and visual storage and workrooms. The location of the Media center is positioned in the heart of the school and has access and views to one of three major internal courtyards within the school campus. The layout is supportive of holding four full classes at one time; two full classes in the main reading area, one class in the computer lab and another within the multimedia lab.. The Media Center is technology capable including hard plug and play ability along with fill wireless internet throughout the school. The Media Center is also located adjacent to the school's Cyber Café to provide informal student gathering space for students to enjoy food and drinks in a safe and secure environment extending the Media Center's capacity and capability for the students. In addition to the main Media Center centrally located within the school, each Academy (or small learning community), contains smaller, individual Media Centers distributed throughout the school. Each academic specific Media Center encourages student learning, student-to-student and student-to-teach interaction outside the classroom. This space serves as a scales down, but academic-specific, version of the traditional main Media Center located at the heart of the school.
