Sidwell Friends School KieranTimberlake Associates LLP215.922.6600 Philadelphia, PA 19130 The Middle School addition and renovation to the Sidwell Friends School transforms a fifty-five year old facility into a school that teaches environmental responsibility by example. The 39,000 SF addition more than doubled the size of the existing building, providing modern spaces for music and art, science and computer labs, counseling, and a library, while retaining and enhancing the life cycle value of the existing structure. Additional Info: The design for the Middle School supports the curriculum with a high-performance building that demonstrates how natural and mechanical systems work in unison with each other. Principles of sustainable desgin guided the preliminary design of the building projects and the campus landscapes. Comments: The building has been awarded a LEED Platinum rating, the highest level of certification attainable.
