Beacon of Light

This addition to the existing high school campus houses the district's freshmen students. It includes 16 core classrooms, science lab, computer lab, art room, administrative area, 1,000-seat gymnasium, central dining/commons area, and media center.

The shared space of the media center and commons area is celebrated as the beacon of the building - a place to gather. The idea of "The Beacon of Light" was expressed structurally with a clerestory which invites natural light, and functionally with the Media Center serving as a gathering place for students, media, knowledge, and technology. A transparent wall unites the two spaces, and encourages student use.

The 55,750 sf project was completed in 2009.
