Itīs All About UUU

Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc.

The design concept reflects the context of agricultural strawberry fields and the human cultivation of the land. The Plan is skewed and sliced, tilled, like the earth. This pattern is reflected in plan, section, and material ions. Layered and textured earth materials and forms are broken and bound by steel objects to define space and function, expressing human transformation of the land. Two metal plows bisect the rows of classroom building and become focal points for student gathering.

Intended as a prototype, this 250,000 sf, 18-building, 2-story high school is sited on 57 acres. It is expected that an elementary and middle school will share the adjacent sites. Long & Associates provided the Master Planning for this project. The high school includes 2,500 student stations, special use classrooms, agriculture labs, media center, computer labs, food service and dining, gymnasium, auditorium, music suite, administration suite and general storage. Athletic facilities include a football stadium, baseball, softball, track and tennis courts. The high school design includes Enhanced Hurricane Protection Areas (EHPA), will incorporate green design strategies throughout, and is being designed and documented with the aid of the latest REVIT Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.
