Sacred Circle![]() Mahlum Architects206.441.4151 Seattle, WA 98104 Emanating from the sacred circle at the center of the campus, the design acknowledges an orientation of the four directions and a belief that life is a journey from east to west, infancy to old age, as the sun crosses the sky. The building forms which radiate from the circle incorporate universal elements of the sea, the valley and the mountain into the unified whole. Circulation patterns and structural systems suggest a skeletal framework and organic forms which grow out of, and give honor to, Mother Earth. The solution is reflective of an essential element in the Native American culture, which is that of finding harmony and balance in a universal context.
