Bethany Catholic Primary SchoolMax Chester, ArchitectsThe design principles of this project centre on sustainability and function, resulting in harmony and cohesion between the structure, its inhabitants, and the natural elements. The rectangular layout of the building, and utilisation of protected cross ventilation by highlight remote controlled windows, aids natural temperature control and lighting. It also provides perimeter learning areas that are linked by an open central, communal breakout area, which can be separated by acoustic doors when single classroom privacy is required. Materials ed ensure durability, minimal maintenance and maximum energy efficiency. Design parameters have incorporated financial, environmental and social factors, resulting an enhanced learning environment for staff and students that -Is cheaper to run -Utilises acceptable levels of greenhouse emissions -Resilient to the impact of harsh sun and external elements -Provides good natural lighting and air quality -Is lower maintenance -Pleasant to occupy Additional Info: To design a senior leadership center - a flexible ICT-rich learning environment which is the culmination of a process of scaffolding learning skills so that students become confident self-directed learners engaged in authentic learning.
