Collaborative learning spaces have become active spaces that can promote the objectives of 21st century learning. The collaborative learning spaces at Atascocita Springs are designed according to grade-levels that form individual wings. At both first and second floor each grade level is afforded their individualized collaborative space that is uniquely identified according to a particular ecosystem. Each ecosystem wing has its own theme based upon the ecosystem taught at the different grade levels in science.

Each space opens up to outdoor learning courtyards that include learning tools, such as hundreds charts, rulers and sundials. These courtyards allow kinesthetic learning, where activities are focused on "learning through movement."

The interior of the space is configured to provide maximum flexibility, incorporate day lighting and utilize the walls, floors and ceilings surface as a contributing component of the learning activities relating ecosystems. The ceilings depict abiotic aspects of each ecosystem, and magnetic wall boards graphically depict a large-scale image of the specific ecosystem. The students use the magnetic boards to display the flora and fauna specific to the lesson at hand and the relevance to science lessons.
