Judson Early College Academy-Element 2: Student Center

In colleges and universities, a student union acts as the "hub" of the campus - the center of academic and student life. Like that of a college campus, the Student Center at Judson Early College Academy performs as the "hub" for academic achievement, personal development and, home for the student community. Located within the administration block on the campus, the JECA Student Union is a multi-purpose space designed for collaborative learning, individual study, and large group functions. Students have direct access to the student plaza from the union and other outdoor activity and learning areas. From this space the students are directly linked to the administration block from both the lower level and overhead bridge. The interior of the center is washed in daylight emanating from the full height glazing on three sides. The feature wall of the space affords the visitor with a direct view to the NLC bell tower. The academy's is to motivate and prepare their students for future educational and career pursuits. The Student Union exemplifies this mission by providing a strong visual connection to the adjacent Northeast Lakeview College campus and an inspiring environment for these high school students to develop as individuals and community.
