Overview: Santa Gertrudis School

Santa Gertrudis School, located in the heart of the King Ranch, continues the long tradition established by Mrs. Henrietta M. King (1832-1925) of education the children of King Ranch. Reflecting that tradition, the school is closely linked to the Ranch and architecturally resembles the Main House - Rancho Santa Gertrudis. Based upon the Rancho, the design of the school shares the same architectural elements and arrangement including the tower, entry portal, courtyard and other feature. The style of the school in turn reflects that of the Main House as a blend of Spanish, Mexican and South Texas Architecture.
