Santa Gertrudis School-Element 2: Living Legend

The history of the King Ranch is an illustrious one in the birth and growth of Texas and the cattle industry in the United States. Reflecting the greatest of its history, the "King Ranch – The Living Legend" time-line in the Santa Gertrudis School captures the ranch's history and gives it a deserving presence in the school. Historically, in 1853 the Ranch was established and is currently one of the largest ranches in the world, with its history spanning the years of the Civil War to the present day. The time-line is a photo montage of the 150-year history of the ranch. Beginning with the founders Richard and Henrietta King, the time-line includes photos of other esteemed family members and notable individuals involved with the ranch, images of the cattle industry and ranch operations from the past to the present day, and other events and inventions unique to the ranch that establishes its unique place in the history of Texas and the region.
