Cedar Ridge High School, the fifth high school within the school district, will serve a 3,000 student core capacity accommodating 9th through 12th grades. The new design is approximately 375,000 square feet. Cedar Ridge High School will be an academy-based high school including such academies as Arts, Humanities & Communication, STEM, Hospitality/Public Service, and a 9th grade academy. Each academy will serve approximately 600 students and will implement the 4 x 4 curriculum model. Additional Info: The new high school will also consist of small distributed media centers specific to each academy, along with individual teacher planning and resource areas. Each academy connects to a shared spine of spaces consisting of a black box theater, cafeteria, performing arts center, main media center, gymnasium and consolidated administration area located at the north and south entries of the facility. The organization of the facility allows for the creation of secured courtyards. The courtyards will be used for outdoor dining, learning, and gallery spaces. In considering the local climate, shaded areas are provided throughout the courtyard. Perkins+Will, in association with KAHickman Architects & Interior Designers, facilitated project programming and collaborative workshops with groups comprised of administrators, teachers, community members and stakeholders, students and parents. Concepts were developed to create a community learning center that will support the instruction models being developed in Round Rock. | High School
