Ups and Downs

The formal stair creates a defining space that unifies the building and program, as well as establishing an identity for the school. A central skylight was incorporated into the design to bring light into the space and highlight the significance of this element. Although the existing stair had been severely damaged, it was important for the design concept to retain existing features such as the original floor and baluster, into the new design.
