The Atrium is the hub of the school complex, and its design, utilizing abundant natural light, high exposed ceilings, and warm materials create a beautiful and welcoming space for all. The atrium has many functions, including entry foyer, meeting and auditorium space, open day and display space, and a transition zone for students. It is a space to walk, run, sit, talk, listen, watch, and learn. It also acts as a corridor space for 8 classrooms and the library and can have 250 students exiting into it at once. Each end of the atrium is glazed with double doors, providing a cross flow of sea breezes through the space while allowing sunlight in and warm air out through high level louvre windows on the north facade. The varied use of local timbers, including recycled hardwood floorboards, are highlighted with bold colors to create a tactile and vibrant space.
