Rock On!![]() Studio Meng Strazzara206.587.3797 Seattle, WA 98121 The rain garden is an interactive learning tool that teaches children about the water cycle. Rain water channels off the roof of the play shed, spouting water from a 4 foot long scupper. River rocks and granite slabs are great for climbing when dry, and gurgle when wet. The rocks are anchored into concrete to stabilize the walking surface, and to prevent vandalism. The rainwater feeds a dual purpose tiered garden: a pea-patch when the curriculum allows, or bleachers for the baseball field. Materials: Indigenous stones & granite slabs Native and adaptive plants Concrete Earth berm Comments: Most children know the joy of walking on rocks. Creating an outdoor learning area with a dual purpose is nice for the students. Of course, I want to see the photos after a good long rain! Joel@schooldesigner.com | Elementary School
