Cass THS-Urban Design-element 1

This district "flagship" school is centrally located in downtown Detroit. In response to the small urban site, the 404,000 SF school is organized vertically on seven levels. Largely transparent, the school connects students visually to their community with panoramic skyline views. The media center is emphasized to create an urban dialogue with neighboring historic Cass Park buildings. Exterior materials create an image of both Detroit's industrial history and a reflection of the schools' forward-thinking curriculum.
