The 750-seat Performing Arts Auditorium addition to Utica’s Henry Ford High School provides new state-of-the-art facilities for the district. The 26,400 square foot full service theater replaces a small, dark space that was more suited as a lecture hall. The dramatic glass-enclosed exterior of the theater provides an inviting new face for the school. The auditorium features continental seating and acoustically designed walls and ceiling clouds for maximum comfort and sound quality. A walkable grid is located above the stage and first rows of seating, which maximizes both lighting flexibility and user safety.

Additional Info:

The expansive performance stage comes complete with a wooden floor with removable panels covering a full orchestra pit. Support facilities are located behind the stage and include changing rooms, make-up area and a complete scene shop. A dramatic light-filled gathering space was designed to comfortably accommodate theater patrons as it provided both pre-function and specialty programs. In addition, an inner lobby allows for complete light and sound separation between the auditorium itself and the gathering space. The design of the circulation spaces was carefully laid out to allow for separation between the auditorium and gathering space while providing individual access for both outside patrons and students. In addition, it also allows for outside use of the theatre without any disruption to the internal functioning of the high school. The addition was designed to allow existing band and orchestra rooms to support the theater, and are now complimented with dressing rooms, a makeup room and a scene shop.
