The DLC-Warren, serving students with autism and designed to function as a "real-world" community, facilitates a seamless transition from learning environment to life beyond school. "Learning Labs" that simulate actual places, like a grocery store, enable the students to experience traditional activities while providing them with skills to accomplish daily tasks. A distinctive example is the Diner instead of a cafeteria. The Diner, with checkerboard finishes and 1950's-style booths, helps the students develop social skills.
