Midlothian High School’s design was the outcome of connecting the existing north and south campuses to serve grades 9 through 12. The addition of a new cafeteria at the freshly finished high school campus left the existing cafeteria space available for other uses. The empty space spanning 8,300 square feet left the door open for numerous possibilities within the high school.

The former cafeteria soon became the Technology Village that includes components such as a TV studio, TV control room, radio station, engineering lab and an editing room. The revitalized space supports programs that expand the career and technology opportunities available to students. The Technology Village creates an exciting and vibrant atmosphere for students to experience both television and radio fields. Students also learn hands-on the requirements to plan, prepare and produce a TV and radio program for all types of media.

The Technology Village offers space for a video production class, which is operated by students. In the class students learn various technical aspects including script writing, on-screen graphics, camera handling, on-air presentation and video editing.

The engineering lab utilizes the "Infinity Project,” which is a national award-winning high school and early college math- and science-based education initiative. The “Infinity Project” helps students learn varied applications for engineering and technology. By incorporating the “Infinity Project” within the Technology Village, students remain open-minded to college curriculums involving engineering, math and science.

The radio station incorporates six soundproof rooms with voice tracking systems, which allows students to complete six hours of pre-programming for the radio station each class period. Four separate studio host microphones for guest speakers that can be used for live or recorded shows.
